On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the ceremonial unveiling of the commemorative artwork took place, which will forever recall the legacy of the prominent architect and first director of the Glass School in Železný Brod, Arch. Alois Metelák.
The winning design, created by the school's teacher Mgr.A. Tomáš Plesl, is a portrait made from the technologically unique material – borosilicate glass. This decision pushes the boundaries of glass art, as borosilicate is rarely used in sculptural work.
The successful completion of this challenge confirms our technological capabilities in working with borosilicate glass. We thank Tomáš Plesl for his trust and look forward to further cooperation.
You can view the artwork in the vestibule of the Glass School.
